My sister is one of those women that HAS to have a man, and all you ever hear out of her when she isn't dating anyone is how long it's been since she's had a date. (Even if it's only been a couple of weeks). We are exact opposites when it comes to this mentality. Before the boyfriend I have now, it was two years since I dated anyone seriously.....and that was by choice. I guess that's why I don't understand this mentality. If I've dated someone for awhile and we break up, I just don't have any desire to jump right back into a relationship.
My sister has had several failed relationships and three failed marriages. Most of the guys she dates are losers and are just using her for one thing or another. You'd think she learn her lesson, but no, she just keeps going back for more. The guy she's currently dating has two small children that he has full custody of, and it's pretty evident (to everyone but her) that he's just looking for someone to take care of his kids for him.
It does no good to try to talk to her though, since having a man is more important to her than anything else, of course she doesn't listen. So I just keep my mouth shut and try to be there for her when it all falls apart.
Do any of you know any women like this?

TOTES! I have known people who only like themselves if they are part of a couple. Fortunately for me, I'm not one of them... or I'd be in BIG trouble. ;)
I have met many women like this. My half sister (who I don't claim) is very similar.
I had a friend that was like that. That ultimately became the reason we weren't friends anymore, she would leave everyone else in the dust for her newest fling and expect us to be there when it bit the dust.
You know my old roommate was like that. Seriously, like that. I got tired of the whining and the constant need of a man to help her justify herself. I quit saying anything to her after awhile; because, I felt like a broken record. Eventually, all of our friends got tired of it. Needless to say, we are no longer friends with her,and she found new friends just like her.
YES! My sister is this way. When she has a boyfriend she wraps her ENTIRE life around him, it is unbearable to watch. she looses all sense of herself and becomes a "we." it's very frustrating. Just last week I asked her and her bf if they wanted to come to a concert. my sister said she didnot like the band, so no. her boyfriend likes the band, so i told him he was more than welcome to come. my sister says: "paul go somewhere without me, that'll never happen." I didn't even know how to react.
wish i could provide advice instead of commiseration, but good luck!
im of the opinion that if youre not happy when youre alone you wont be happy with other people.
i have girlfriends who arent totally happy unless they're in a relationship...either dating just everyone and anyone that they can grab, or being in a relationship with one specific person [this one is the worst; you know, those gone-on-for-too-long on-again-off-again things?]
i think it boils down to this: do you want your boyfriend complete you or compliment you? [in the "they are good together" way not the "honey that dress is great" way :) ]
