well said.....

Until yesterday, I had never heard of a "push present" before. Am I the only one?

I'm not going to say a whole lot about my opinion, because I could go on and on and on about how I think this is tacky and I'm not really in the mood for a bunch of hate mail....haha. Let me be clear though....I think it's tacky to demand, expect, ask for, etc a "push present". If your husband wants to get you a present for having the baby without you having suggested it, that's great! But I don't think anyone should ask for a present for any occasion. If someone wants to get you a gift for something, then they will do so.

Anywho, I think Atlanta Bride says it better than I could anyway in
this post. If you read the post, make sure you read all of the comments....they're quite amusing (to me anyway, but it doesn't take much to amuse me).

What are your thoughts on a "push present"?

I think the "push present" has turned into something it never should have. I remember my dad bringing something little and sentimental after she had my sister and brother, but nothing like that she asked for. I mean HELLO if your husband, fiance, baby daddy WHATEVER wants to get you something at the time of the birth GREAT. But to flat out demand something, ask for something, drop hints about something, pink something out or any and all combinations of the above options is quite sad.

I told my boyfriend that I wanted one thing if we ever get married and have a child. That is a personal trainer. I guess that would be my ideal "push present". I don't really expect a present. I think having a healthy baby is the best present of all!!!!

A baby is probably the greatest gift a woman could ever give to the man she loves(along with her heart).

I would and could never demand a gift from anyone regardless of what the occasion is.

I'd never even heard of a 'push present' before now.

And after reading up on what it is, I think it's ridiculous. I mean, if my husband wants to give me something because he loves me, great. But I'm certainly not going to ask him to buy me something for having his child.

Besides I think 'asking' for a gift on any occassion is tacky.

I just heard about this recently as well. I think it's dumb!!! You shouldnt get diamonds or a car or any special gifts for having a baby. The baby is the gift. I think the dad should give lots of kisses and maybe some flowers.

You knwo what I say? Save the money and spend it on your child. And stop whining crazy women! You're giving the rest of us bad names.
