talk about your bad Mondays........

Some of you already know because of my comments on your blog and/or emails.....I was laid off from my job on Monday. I work in an industry that is doing terrible right now and it will more than likely not get better until later this year or next year.

Even though things have been bad at work, because of conversations my boss had with me prior to Monday, led me to believe that if I did get laid off it would at be at least another two or three months before it happened. I was definitely shocked when it happened.

It's definitely upsetting (this is the first time I have ever been laid off from a job), but after I've had time to think about it, I'm actually one of the lucky ones. I live with my boyfriend and he makes good money, so unemployment will cover my car payment and insurance. There was another woman that got laid off the same day I did and she is a single mother with three kids.

Also, I'm going to turn this into something positive for myself and try to go back to school. Even if that doesn't work out, I will find another job, and hopefully it will be something even better than the job I had. Everything happens for a reason and I know that everything will work out....I hope!

I can't believe the boyfriend's sister has a job and I don't. That will teach me to keep my mouth shut!

Man, that stinks. Too bad layoffs are kind of like the flu right now... they keep going around! It's scary. But, you have a great attitude. In the meantime, maybe you should consider figuring out how to add ads to your blog to give you some extra cash! ;)

keep your chin up kid, times are rough... but hopefully (praying to the big one here) things will start to creep out of the giant shit pool.

i work in the manufacturing industry as well, and the economic troubles haven't hit us quite yet, but we're already feeling the pinch, and already worrying about job placement.

School is a great idea... a little education never hurts anybody. (unless you're one of those psycho fuckers like the guy on se7en)

I am sorry to hear that. But as you said, and one of my life mottos: "Everything Happens for a Reason" I know everything will work out!

I myself have always believed and will continue to believe everything happens for a reason. I wish you success soon.

I'm sorry. That has to be hard.

This is just awful. I hope you do get to go back to school and the next job is way, way better!
